HENRY HEYMAN
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
Seattle, WA (or wherever the next adventure can be found)
WHAT'S YOUR POSITION AT THE BIG ANDREW AND HOW DOES THE FOUNDATION INSPIRE YOU?
Well I don't have an official title yet, I like to think of myself as the co-stoke coordinator. Along with Will, I will be making sure the whitewater community is fired up to take part in the Big A and ensuring the events runs smoothly. In addition to rallying the community I will be taking care of day-of details, logistics, plans, operations, etc.
My goal is to grow the event to reach a wider audience and become a staple community event for all whitewater lovers in the area.
I am inspired by the ability of the organization to connect people through their passion for outdoor recreation, while helping benefit a meaningful cause.
Having lost a couple of close friends in the outdoors community in the last couple years, I see the importance/value in having something honor a friend's legacy and make sure their name lives on.
WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST ASPIRATION IN LIFE?
To inspire others to fall in love with wild places and simple lifestyles.
I am so grateful for the time I have been able to spend in wilderness, getting lost and finding myself. It has given me a new passion for living and changed the lens that I see the world through. I want to continue living this lifestyle for myself and squeezing all of the life I can get out my time on earth. However, I also want to make sure I dedicate time to sharing and inspiring as many others as I can to see the joy that comes from experiencing new things and stepping out of your comfort zone.
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR EGGS?
Hobo style! Cook everything you have in one pan, and chuck a couple of eggs on top to finish it out.
MOST NOTABLE PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?
Founding, operating, and eventually selling my own adventure tourism outfitter based out of the Tres Brazos Valley in Panama.
FAVORITE ACTIVITY WHEN NOT WORKING?
Finding any way to get myself into the wilderness.
HAVE ANY PETS?
I had two baby, mini-goats. Things got weird with the landlord, they had to move on to greener pastures in proper farm country.
BIGGEST PET PEEVE?
Lack of motivation.
FAVORITE COLOR?
Blue.
FAVORITE MOVIE/WHY?
180 South. Beautiful cinematography, top-notch soundtrack, and an inspiring story about chasing the dream, what more can ya ask for?
ANY CLOSING REMARKS?
Get out there and chase what you are passionate about! Follow dreams, accomplish goals, and always make sure you DO SOMETHING EPIC!
